The "Emotional" Touch...

It was during the Tech Symposium at office yesterday. And there I was sleeping peacefully on one of the talks of the day, so happy that events like these actually give you a reason to not work and simply have some "fun" (literally). I hadn't realized the talk was done, over (and I hadn't bothered to follow anything on the topic) until my friend poked me.


"Emotional Design"... That was the title for the next topic and it kinda made me curious. "So if you were given an option to choose from these, what would you choose?" The speaker's first question and the slide, caught everyone's attention! Almost every sleeping body was awake, coz believe me this wasn't something that any of us were expecting! And there on the screen we saw one part with pics of all the latest high-end phones and an iPhone. Now what kinda question was that? iPhone obviously... And there you go, that was what the whole talk was about!


Well it was mostly about giving that emotional touch to products. The WOW factor that would actually make people fall for something! :-) Come to think of it, having an iPhone is "COOL"!!! Think of the pride you have when you own one of those!


Itz the same with everything we own or want to have! We want the best of all! Be it something personal, or for the home, or official... And we'd do anything to get it!!!


The speaker was talking about how one of our company's CT scan product was customized for kids. Making it more of an amusement ride rather than a boring medical procedure. According to her report, that COOLness did the job...! :-)


I know how hard it is to actually develop something that appeals to the user. Trust me, I've had trouble in the past to incorporate all those stupid WOW things into the web pages I developed. The scrolling and the looks the client wanted, was simply impossible to achieve! And I used to curse those web designers and my managers who agreed to all this stupid stuff!!!


But after all those tiring days and efforts, it made me proud when someone looked at it (mostly the client) and say "WOW that looks superb!!" And even more wonderful, when things go great when it goes live (esp. if there're no issues reported from the site) :-D


So itz not juz the customer's emotions. But the developer's as well!!! :-)

Hit by the L-A-Z-Y bug...

I think I've been seriously hit by the "laziness" flu....!!! I know its kinda hard to accept, but yes I'm finally admitting it....and yeah it seems to be in a critical condition!!!! :-)

Why? Well at least I have all the symptoms!!! The likes of not wanting to get up in the mornings, keeping the alarm on multiple snoozes for that 5 more minutes of sleep....And if I did wake up, then not wanting to take a bath, thinking on whether or not to get into the cold shower!!

Well what the heck, I spent a lot of time in the bathroom, I'm pretty sure I won't get that bus. And I still have to press my clothes. Hmmm why bother....There I go again, sleeping off another 10 more minutes!!! :-D

OMG look at the time now!!! Now I'll never make it to office in time....In that case, should I really go today? Hmmm off I go typing to my boss...."Will be working from home today <eom>" (Oh I juz love my company for its flexible work culture :-D) Aah now to catch a few more minutes of slumber :-D

Well this is pretty much what happens to me most mornings....Every time I do this, I keep telling myself, "Now this is the last time. I WILL get that bus from tomorrow" :-) Who am I kidding!!! I'm sick!!! I'm down with the flu!!!

Weekends come and go. And I'm always at home, lying on the sofa, watching repeats of FRIENDS and those same movies, with an occasional visit to the kitchen. The same FB games, Diner Dash and BookWorm....One of these days my laptop's gonna get bored doing the same stuff!!! :-)

I couldn't waste my time by climbing down 5 floors to hit the gym. Now I have an exerciser in my bedroom, staring at me all day, wishing to get itself warmed up!!! The fact that none of my clothes fit me, doesn't get me started on it. Nor do I bother to get a new wardrobe...! My hair's gone all wild and messy, and is screaming desperately to get to the salon. I think I should be thankful to everyone around me, not minding my appearance!!! :-)

Hmmm now how did all of this happen? When did the bug hit me? I guess I'll think about that tomorrow..... :-)

On One More Rainy Day...

Woke up to a rainy Sunday today! And its been raining non-stop ever since....Cyclone Jal effect!!!


Brrrrr its really cold and already with my 4th cup of coffee of the day...! :-) Coffee and rain...... Hot cup of home-made cappuccino..... chairs in the balcony..... and watching those raindrops falling.... Blissful!!!!


Soft music from the iPod.... a wonderful book to read..... curled up in my bed...... watching those raindrops on the window..... Hmmmm euphoric!!!


Rains have always been the season I enjoy the most.... And it doesn't matter where I am :-) During that hot hot hot summer in Pune, there's always been days when I longed to be back in Kerala to enjoy the monsoons.... The first rain after a hot summer..... Aaah the smell of wet earth...... So fresh and so pure!!!! For getting drenched all over again...... Nostalgic!!! :-)


Its always been the best days in school too....! A good pour means another holiday!!! :-D Else we made sure it was.... ;-) Cuddled under one umbrella....! Getting wet from head to toe..... Those were the days....! Why can't it be like that now??? **sigh**


Haaa this climate is bringing back such good memories!!! Wish it wasn't a Monday tomorrow and I didn't have to go to office!!!

Can a stranger be your friend?

Well this post is an afterthought of Jhootha Hi Sahi. So what'd I think of the movie??!!

Hmmm..... London's juz amazing.... Beautiful!!! N I wish to visit someday. The songs were really cute n lovely!!! (Still playing I've been waiting) :-) Oh and Raghu rocked!!! I wouldn't say it was a bad movie after all. Considering that the director has surprisingly made John act better than most of his movies... :-) And I loved the whole gang as well...

So coming back to the thought. What do you think of befriending a total stranger? Telling them about your life and sharing your thoughts. Asking them for advice. Oh and finally fall in love... Sounds a lot filmy??? Really?

So how many of us haven't had those special people in our lives...The person you kept talking to on and on....when time and phone credit was juz not enough for your chats. Someone you could call up anytime.....even @ 4 a.m to tell them you'd flunk the exams the day after....n who'd always motivate you and suggest which all topics to learn! That someone you wouldn't mind writing assignments for. The one who made sure you always reached home at the right time....And helped you settle in the new city. Or the ones who'd always listen to your cribbing over your unfair and impossible manager or the stupid work at office....The ones who always seem to have time for you :-) Yup we call them our best friends!!! :-)


When you first met them, did you have any clue as to how close you'd be? When they called you up the first time, did you ever think you'd enjoy talking to them? When you shared something with them for the first time, did you know they'd be so caring and supportive?


Well in that case, what if you found some stranger in the bus to office, in a chat room, or over the phone. You initiated a casual talk....topics started flowing in....and you felt you're of the same wavelength. Well wouldn't you want to keep this acquaintance? And when time flows, and such meetings carry on, who knows what they can turn into! :-)

And life seems to be back to normal!!! :-)

Been exactly 4 years today since we first met. Growing together, sharing both joys and blues, learning to play the game called 'LIFE'...!

Here we are today. In totally different places... With our own li'l worries and troubles. But still remembering those first paces we took together!!!

Kudos to our friendship!!! And hoping to cherish this relation forever!!!

Pom-Pom-Pee-Pee-Trringg-Tring

Ever since I moved to Bengaluru, people have been asking me how I find this place. I've always got the same answer..."Mumbai was far better!!" And why do I think so? TRAFFIC!!!

Yeah that one thing that irritates one and all around here. And to add to the inconvenience of the already-late office-goer, the authorities suddenly decided they'd make the roads more narrow!!! Yup with all those widening n fly-overs n under-passage constructions...

Anyway at times this slow traffic kinda grants favors too ;-) Like the other day when I'd almost reached the climax of the book n sooo wanted to complete it before I reached office....Or yesterday when I was meeting friends n considering that all of us were moving at this wonderful pace of 1mm/min, I'd wished I would be the last to reach the spot..! :-)

Today was one of those super-exciting-rush day!!! So when I asked the bus bhaiyya to drop me at the signal, he started cursing me! Oh yeah as if I was paying to get dropped off where he wished!!! :P  I got down and it was all chaos at the junction!!! Well what's the point of having wider roads, when there're actually no signs to guide??!! Oh n did I mention it was raining too!!! Forget the auto, I decided walking would be better...N yeah I was right :-)

Hello you I-know-how-to-make-the-city-better people, where are the sidewalks??? Am I supposed to zig-zag past the almost-moving cars and have a great time??!!! Oh n what's with you biker, don't you realize you're not the ones who're on the road???? I was grateful to that someone who thought of putting median strips...

So there I was jumping puddles and dodging hits from I'm-in-a-hurry bikers who decided they'd pave their way out through those medians...To all of them "Watch it mister!!! I hope (*comments censored)" Oh n to all those honking and sneering at me, for walking on the "correct" side of the road and minding my own business "Hehe you have no idea what's in store for you ahead!!" :-D  To those auto-wallahs who decided to turn their meters for this one time, instead of blurting out atrocious rates "Well done!! You guys are rich today!!!"

Phew finally I made it home. Almost 45 minutes..! All those cars moved 3 inches within this time, so I heard!!! ;-) Now what was the point of carrying an umbrella? I'm drenched from head to toe!!! But thoroughly enjoyed walking in the rain....! If Amma was here, she would have snapped at me for making those wonderful prints on my favorite white salwar.

Sadly after this whole adventure, I realized my bag wasn't in fact water resistant. N all my stuff is laid out under the fan right now (including my laptop)

N me....Watching the rain from the balcony, with a hot cup of coffee....

League Hungama!

I’ve never understood guyz n their obsession to cricket...! C’mon for me itz juz another confusing game. Never had d patience to keep up with it actually. N now all this T20 n IPL madness!!!


I still remember d 1st T20 world cup. We’d gone out for supper as usual to this dhaba n everyone there was gathered in front of d TV. I think it was an India-Pak match (Not sure if it was d finals) Anyways there was no-one to attend our table. They din even serve us a glass of water...Oh n me, well I started cribbing about it n started cursing d game!!  At one point I got so frustrated n blurted “dekhna nxt ball pe out ho jayega” n BANG!!! Tht was it...some-one was out!!!! hehe


All eyes on me... “Bhaiyya thoda paani milega?” No luck! No-one evn bothered to shift from where they sat or stood!!!
“Yeh kya hain! Aisa service kartha hain kya? Stupid game!!! I’ve been sitting here for half an hour n u can’t even give me a glass of water???”
BANG! Somethg bad happened again in d game! N in 2 minutes glasses were filled n d order was taken! Oh n d guy was mumbling “Time lagega Madam!!!”

Anyways juz when d IPL is over n Lalit Modi is busy convincing ppl, a new hungama has started @ office!!! Oh yeah n itz called d EPL!! Well this one’s not juz for d cricket fans alone...Everyone has to participate...Even d ladies r forced into it!!! Coz every team is supposed to have atleast 2 ladies n one manager playing!!! But I should say d concept was interesting!


So yesterday, d Aryans n d Romans n d Mauryans n d Spartans n d Maayans n d rest of them battled out on picking their players. Yup they had to bid n win their players!!! N it was total entertainment!!! Teams fighting over their managers. Some managers rolling their eyes when the captains from their team wasn’t raising d bids...N some captains, having raised d bids for fun but stuck up wid them! Total fun I should say... :) The ladies were d ones who had no luck! There weren’t many to fight over them n most of them were taken at d base price only!!!


So now d teams r formed n its cricket madness for another 2 weeks! Well total time-pass I should say. Let’s see who wins!!! Of course I wouldn’t miss a single match. After all u don’t get breaks like this in office that often! :-D
